The Walking Gators Program

Walking Gators kicked off on January 29, 2008 with approximately 200 participants and nearly 2,000 miles were collectively walked during spring semester on six different walking routes. Each route is approximately 1 to 1.5 miles long. The summer schedule is posted below.

SUMMER SCHEDULE: (Click on route name for a map)

Swamp Route: Will walk in the stadium on Wednesdays at 12:15 beginning May 12. Meet at the student ticket window at Yon Hall. Contact Shirley Haberman at shirleyh@ufl.edu.

Century Tower Same route, but starting time has changed for summer! Meet at the route's starting point - Library West- at 9:30 a.m. NOT 12:15 p.m. beginning May 12. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Contact Rita Smith at rjsmith@ufl.edu.

Cultural Plaza Same schedule and time, but will walk through nature trail during very hot days. Contact Donna Bloomfield at dbloomf@ufl.edu.

Healthy Herd (at the Vet School) Contact Penny Ann Canino at penann@ufl.edu for the summer schedule.

Health Science Center (HSC) Route (suspended for summer)

Uphill Challenge (suspended for summer)

All six routes plan to resume in the fall semester. Stay tuned for more details.
